Privacy

This notice covers the agentedapp.com website. AgentEd itself runs on your computer, works with files in folders you choose, and does not require an account.

In short

  • No cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics scripts
  • No ads, social widgets, accounts, or forms
  • Fonts, images, and the demo video are served from this website
  • Personal data is limited to server logs, emails you send, and contributions you choose to make

Who runs this website

agentedapp.com is a personal project run by Catalin George Vasile (catge on GitHub), based in Romania. As the operator, I decide how the personal data described below is used. Contact: contact@agentedapp.com.

What this website does not use

This website does not use cookies, newsletter sign-ups, or contact forms, and does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media content. Fonts, images, styles, and the demo video are served from agentedapp.com itself.

The Copy website link button on the Support page copies the address on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Service providers

This website is hosted by Chroot, Romania. Email sent to contact@agentedapp.com is also handled by Chroot, Romania. Chroot processes data on my behalf, only to provide these services.

Server logs

Like most web servers, the hosting provider’s servers automatically record technical information for each request:

  • your IP address
  • the date and time
  • the page or file requested
  • your browser and operating system, as reported by the browser

These logs are used only to keep the website running and secure, for example to investigate errors or abuse. They are kept for 30 days. The hosting panel also produces aggregate visitor statistics from these logs, which I do not publish. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating a secure website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

If you write to me

If you email contact@agentedapp.com, I receive your email address and your message, and use them to reply and follow up on your request.

Ordinary messages are kept only as long as needed to answer them and follow up, and no longer than 12 months. Messages needed for tax or legal obligations are kept as long as those obligations require.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering your message (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). If you write about company support, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement (Article 6(1)(b)).

If you support AgentEd

Contributions are made on Ko-fi. When you contribute, Ko-fi gives me your name or display name, your email address, the amount, and any message you add. The payment itself is processed by PayPal, which also shares with me the details it gives to any seller, such as your name, email address and part of your billing address. Ko-fi explains what it shares (opens in a new tab).

I use these details only to record and manage contributions, handle refunds, thank you if appropriate, and keep the records required for tax purposes.

The legal bases are processing your contribution (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), keeping records required by law (Article 6(1)(c)), and my legitimate interest in thanking supporters (Article 6(1)(f)).

Contribution records are kept for 5 years after the end of the year in which the contribution was received, as required by Romanian tax rules. Other details are deleted once they are no longer needed.

I do not publish the names of individual supporters. Companies are acknowledged on this website only with their agreement.

Some links lead to other services, which process your data under their own privacy policies when you visit them:

  • GitHub: downloads, source code, and issue reports
  • Ko-fi: contributions (see “If you support AgentEd” above)
  • Apple and Microsoft: help pages linked from Installation help

These are ordinary external links, not embedded widgets. When you follow them, the destination service processes your visit under its own privacy policy.

The AgentEd app

AgentEd runs on your computer. It opens and saves Markdown files in folders you choose and does not require an account.

AgentEd makes no network connections of its own: it does not check for updates, send usage data, or load images or other content from the internet. When you click a link in a document, it is opened by your own browser or email client, outside AgentEd. Updates are published on GitHub and installed by you.

The web runtime that draws the window belongs to your operating system, not to AgentEd, and it may connect on its own. On Windows, Microsoft’s WebView2 contacts Microsoft at every launch and looks up the address of a link in the open document when the pointer rests on it, before any click; AgentEd cannot turn either off. On Linux, WebKitGTK was measured and made no connections. On macOS, WebKit was measured and made no connections either; it relies on the macOS protection against fraudulent sites, whose list macOS updates on its own schedule. Details and measurements are in SECURITY.md (opens in a new tab).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal data I hold about you, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. To make a request, write to contact@agentedapp.com.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Romania, this is the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP) (opens in a new tab); elsewhere in the EU, the authority in your country.
